Mbaraka Mwinshehe – Mitindo Yetu

Mwinshehe was the great Tanzanian guitarist and vocalist who thrilled East African audiences from 1965 to 1979 with the famous Morogoro Jazz Band and then with his own Orchestra Super Volcano. He tragically perished in an auto accident in January 1979.

The band originally played live at the clubs and bars of Morogoro and became very popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The leader of the band was guitarist Mbaraka Mwinshehe, who dropped out of school to join the band in 1965.
