Tabu Ley Rochereau – Pitié

Pitié toi mon amour, Pitié toi mon coeur, je travaille nuit et jour pour ton seul bonheur…

Pitié from the album Babeti Soukous was recorded live in the Wood Studio at Real World in Box, Wiltshire on January 30 1989. On that night the legendary Congolese rumba star Tabu Ley Rochereau, and his outstanding band Afrisa International, revisited a significant song in his long and illustrious career. ‘Pitié’ is a European style ‘slow’ written for Tabu Ley’s historic 1970 performance at the Olympia concert hall in Paris which made him a national and continental hero at home.
